During the DES241 Week 2 tutorial, the class was introduced to Unity. I have previous novice experience in Unity - following tutorials 3 years ago. This class was a new experience for me. Lecturer Prasanth Sasikumar wanted us to learn the basics before we jumped into more complex parts of Unity like VR and AR experiences.

With my creation of this simple environment, I learned multiple Unity skills. Movement around my environment using the 'WASD' keys was easy once learned. I added a base to my environment by altering the length and height of a cube. I added color to my objects by not only changing the object material but I also learned how to change the environment light color.

The interaction in Unity between objects is highly interesting to me. I added the components 'Box collider' to all the objects present in the environment as well the component 'Rigidbody' was given. This is to give the gravity of the object (Rigidbody) and the ability to knock into each other. The result is what I created above, an explosion from the collision inside the rock and the knock out from the rock above. From this experience and practice, I feel deeply emerged to learn more and get to create new things from UNITY.

For future projects I'm enthused about the idea of finding some kind of 'soft body' component - I'd love to watch objects get squashed on contact with other objects.
